Domestic Installations

We undertake installations to domestic properties across Midlands in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, Birmingham, Coventry & Leicester. These are usually for the less able or elderly customers to allow them to enter, exit and move more freely around their homes.

Front and Back Doors

Our front door package allows the resident to open the external door automatically, usually by using a key fob transmitter. This removes the need for keys and eliminates the problem of trying to open the door manually. We meet all our end users to assess their capabilities and to provide the most appropriate method of activation specific to their abilities and requirements. For relatives and carers we can fit a keypad outside which has an integral fob reader so authorised visitors can gain entry without disturbing the resident.

Bathrooms

We have a specification which is designed for bathrooms and toilets to be used by less able people. It is simply to use and offers visual indication of when the bathroom is vacant or engaged. The door locks, unlocks and opens automatically from either side by touching a pad. We install an override system so that the door can be opened, even when occupied, in the event of an emergency. Ideal for disabled washrooms in schools and colleges and also domestic situations where locking is required.

Pocket Doors

We have operators available which will automate existing sliding internal doors which is designed to be concealed in a cavity so the door can slide into a pre-constructed pocket in the wall. The Equality Act - Disabled Doors

There are 10 million disabled people registered in the UK and this group of consumers spend around £40 billion a year on goods and services.

Since 1st October 1999 all providers of goods and services have had to make ”reasonable adjustments” for disabled people, such as providing extra help or making changes to the way they deliver services or accommodate employees.

Since 1st October 2004 they may have had to make other “reasonable adjustments” to the physical features of their premises to overcome barriers to access.

Auto Door Specialists can help you to remove or alter physical features of your building that makes access to services impossible or unreasonably difficult for a person with disabilities, with the minimum of financial outlay. These alterations will assist you to comply with the Act. Automatic doors also make it easier for customers with small children in buggies and prams and the elderly to access your services thus increasing footfall and sales.

Our range of products will help you to comply with the Act including solutions specifically tailored to automating bathrooms both residential and public and also domestic front, internal and back doors. Even if you are occupying new premises that meet current building regulations some alterations may have to be made to comply with the Act.

These are some of our products which will help you to comply with the Act:

  • Fully automatic doors both swing and slide
  • Automatic doors activated by push pads
  • Specialist packages for bathrooms and residential doors

Activation Methods

There are many methods of activating a door. The most common are motion sensors where the door opens as it is approached from either side and installations where the door is triggered by pressing a push pad.

We can mix and match activation methods for example, the door can open from the outside by pressing a push pad and open automatically from the other side via a motion sensor. This configuration is particularly appropriate when the door fronts a pavement with lots of foot traffic which is not necessarily entering the premises.

For our disabled clients we offer a range of activation methods dependent upon their individual dexterity. We have a number of hand held transmitters which vary in size and also larger button boxes for those with dexterity difficulties. The button on the transmitter/box is pressed and the door will open automatically from either side. We have also used blow switches, interfaces with environmental systems and long range readers for severely disabled clients.

We also have a system which allows clients to unlock and open a door from anywhere in the world using their mobile phone!

Access Control

The security of homes and businesses is more important than ever. Access control basically means that only authorised people can gain entry to the building and any visitors can be vetted before they are admitted. Access control can take many forms and is tailored to the needs of the end user. We can interface with existing access control systems and these can also be teamed with conventional activation devices. For example the door could be fully automatic during office hours allowing anyone to enter and automatically switch to access control at an agreed time, say 5pm through a timer. The door would then be locked and would only unlock and power open when a valid token or code was presented to the reader.

Products Include

  • Key pads
  • Proximity readers
  • Audio and Video call points
  • Biometric fingerprint readers

Normally a site will have a method for employees or residents to access the premises, usually a proximity reader or a key pad. In addition, there will normally be a call point which visitors use to be identified; the door can then be unlocked and opened remotely usually by pressing a button on a telephone handset.
